First, we have brightened up our website and made a lot of our information easier to access. We have also made our status bar clearer to see and in an emergency, you can sort by region and warnings. We have added new pages to our community section and hope they help people prepare and become more resilient before emergencies happen.
Talking about resilience...
Helping to develop communities is at the heart of the community engagement team. Recently, Jae has been helping support the Porangahau and surrounding communities to understand their risks they face and how to reduce them.
“There is a high chance our community may be isolated following a major emergency. However, we will not be on our own – we will be with our friends, family, co-workers and neighbours.” - Porangahau and Surrounding Areas Community Resilience Plan
Working with community champions we identify the resources and plan how communities could respond in an event. Our current work is looking to better understand sudden impacts on coastal communities and their resilience plans.
